Finally summer is here

I  missed thoses hot summer nights sitting outside with my laptop wireless connection and coding websites. Well tonight is one of thoses nights where the its very unconfortable to stay inside in front of a computer screen while the temperature with humidity is reaching 28 degrees.  I been designing my website for a while and the lunch is due to june 1st. Lots of projects came along and delayed my initiale release of pauldoumit.com . People been asking me to publish online my wedding pictures that I shot in the past 2 years. Hopefully in matter of days things will start changing.

Enjoy the summer

The “David-nci” Code

Its not a spelling mistake. I meant to write the title that way. Yesterday I saw The Da Vinci Code, I recommend this movie to anyone whom is seeking a good entertainment, nothing more. The Da Vinci Code has sold its story well, drawing comments from readers such as “if it were not true it could not have been published!” Another said he would “never set foot in a church again.” A reviewer of the book praised it for its “impeccable research.” Pretty convincing for a fictional story.

Recent photoshoot with Dimple

I had the pleasure last week to capture picures of a very beutiful photogenic model. Her name, is Dimple. She called me for a photoshoot regarding Miss Photogenic India/Canada. I had no choice but to quickly renovate my studio. I had to use the natural light outside for this session. The cloudy skies helped soften the lighting, and using my Nikon SB800 fill flash killed the many shadows around her.

Business card design

Recently, i’ve been working on a logo for my photography business. I haven’t had or used one for the past 2 years. I’ve decided to design something that i’ll also incorpoarate in my website (color scheme). http://www.pauldoumit.com/ is scheduled to launch by the end of May. Hopefully, by then my business cards will be printed. I rely alot on the mouth to mouth marketing technique to get business contracts. We all know how important business cards are, so I am trying my best to choose appealing colors that will catch the eye without making them to flamboyant.

Here is a preview of my business card

RabihSaad.com

Last week, I paid a little visit to my freind Rabih, who is a talented guitarist. He played some amazing rock music on his electric guitar blowing my mind away. The purpose of my visit was to take some portrait pictures for his new website. He had in mind more of a classical approach for the pictures, while I wanted very natural guitar playing poses. He hooked up his guitar and went on with his music for 30 minutes, while  I was able to capture over 200 pictures in burst mode.
My flash batteries were all empty, only available light was used. Soon, you’ll get to see some of the pictures on his new website.

I will be designing his website this week, also I’ll be hosting on my shared server. The site will feature some of his music, video clips, pictures and much more…

No viruses, no spyware, no spam…

Many people ask me what the best antivirus, and spyware tool is…. and how to avoid spam, pop-ups, viruses… I honestly don’t have any clear answer, but I could tell you how I avoid problems when on the internet.
Personally I don’t use any protection :) except with my router. Antivirus and spyware tools  slows down my computer alot and usually its only 70% effeceint. I download daily, over 5gig using torrents and emule and so far I didn’t get into trouble. Its been over 3 years with this practice and the concept is to know what your doing.

Here is my advice list :

  1. Never open emails or attachement from people you dont know.
  2. Dont install or download any free software and especially spyware tools or popup stoppers.
  3. Dont install or download any toolbars ( Yahoo, Google, msn, or any other useless garbage).
  4. Use a firewall. Mostly a router and disable the ping reply on it.
  5. Enable file extensions and know your extensions ( jpg = pictures, avi/mpeg = video , mp3 = audio )
  6. Monitor your processes in your task manager. Thats a difficult one but you need to figure out whats good and whats not. One easy way is to google every process.
  7. Avoid porn, warez, cracks and freebie websites. They have popups and can hack your browser.
  8. Always update your Windows XP. Daily they find security wholes in Internet Explorer.
  9. To avoid spam email, Simply have a second account and use it to for anything else except with family and friends. I do use my second junk account for forwards too.

Thats it for now . Good luck and keep it safe. :)
