I visited the other a good old friend of mine and she happens to have another friend visiting with a baby. I ran quickly to my car and grab my camera to snap some pictures of this beautiful cuty little blue eyed baby. Joseph is 3 month old and his the most sociable baby ever. Didn’t stop giggling and whistling and enjoyed being photographed.

B-Lounge : Montreal’s hottest destination
My friends Bassel from Sky Entertainz is lucky enough to open a new chill place called B-Lounge. A beautiful cozy place to smoke some water pipes ( shisha ) and enjoy some live music from the resident DJ. I wish them the very best in this new venture.
Nikon DSLR 1080p video
It would be very interesting to see this year a full frame Nikon DSLR with a 1080p video feature. Manual video control would be a minimum just enough to compete with the latest Canon EOS 5d MarkII. I have been following all the rumors in the internet and I am starting to imagine how the next camera would be. A D700 body with a new sensor similar to the D3s but with a video feature . Not that I will start making wedding videos but it would be an interesting approach to sideshows with a mix of pictures and short video clips. Interesting enough to see Montreal Photographers offering same day or next day edit of their wedding day in a short clip movie containing highlights of the day.
[update]
I was reading the other day about the Nikon P100 , which offers a 1080p video feature with H.264 codec and a frame rate of 120fps. That means Nikon could produce a DSLR with those features to compete with Canon and make Nikon users happy. I think they can do better by also pumping some more megapixel with a new sensor.

My next upgrade. PC or MAC ?
How come you are not using a Mac ? I get this question often from clients or friends when they come over to my office. I always replied , well I am a computer guy and I know my way around computers. I never really had any problems with PCs , no viruses, no crashes, hardware or software problems. I guess its the way I use PCs that saved me from all the troubles that Mac fanboys talk about. If I have a problem or need an upgrade, I dont have to call Apple or break my bank account to fix it. My system been running for years, 24/7 none stop and performing like day one. I guess after all Macs are not for technical people.
Its true that Apple’s Mac designs do look good. They are fast and very reliable. I am not here to favor any side. I am just explaining why I have been using a PC for my photography work, along with some gaming on the side. If you check the Alienware website, you get the top of the line PCs with a great design. You get to use a huge Dell 24″ or 30″ widescreen LCD and the latest computer specs that will blow any Mac configuration for half of the price.
It all stats with the OS. Using Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate in the 64 bits flavor changes a lot of things. Its not Vista or the old XP. The new OS is stable, clean and fast. Fast enough for Adobe’s version of Photoshop in 64 bits utilizing all the 12Gig of RAM installed. And the key feature to a fast system now days is storage. Using SSD hard drives as a system drive and a second for cache.
In the end, I would love to you use both platforms. Maybe an iMac 27″ for my clients to preview images and keep the PC workstation as my workhorse machine for processing.
